This week one of Australia’s most notable Prime Minister’s Gough Whitlam,  passed away.

Much will be said about his legacy in the days ahead.

Whatever one thought of Gough and his politics I reflect on a man who seemed to have a strong sense of identity and purpose.

  • He knew who he was and what he was meant to do.
  • He had a vision for leaving his country a better place than he had found it.

You have to admire that.

People like Gough challenge me. Living in such an affluent society it is all too easy to sit back and enjoy what comes our way. People like Gough show us that we ought to take what we have been given and use it to the fullest degree for the good of others as we understand it.

Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. The Bible: 1 Corinthians 4:2
